There are four types of wood elements. Each block size and shape has each been thoroughly tested so as to support and enhance a child’s motor skills and cognitive brain development. Building ‘Just Block’ structures helps develop a child’s fine motor and manual dexterity skills as well as hand-to-eye coordination and to exercise the hand and finger muscles. A given block set is not designed to force/instruct any particular way of playing. In contrast, the focus is on letting children use their own imagination. During the building process, a child can learn how to explore and exploit cause & effect, to undertake challenging tasks and to test the limits of their abilities. In general, toys tend to impose limits in their use-for-play without stimulating a child’s imagination. The ‘Just Blocks’ approach is intended to counteract this, where a child uses its own creativity, through play, to achieve whatever goals they have in mind. Spacial creative skills so acquired help a child to achieve the necessary and enhanced means for its mental development.

Just Blocks are so under rated and I’ve been singing their praises to anyone who will listen 😅
Things we love:
– One side of the block is just under 4cm and the flatter side is nearly 5cm, which gives more versatility to builds
– They’re amazing for ball runs as the shape is sturdier when stacked and that extra 1cm width really comes in handy
– The platforms are the best! So versatile! Great roads, roofs, ball run platforms etc. They’re also the perfect width for our Debresk trucks
– the mini rectangles are so cute and were an unexpected favourite for my 2yo, who loves stacking a few at a time and using them as loose parts to put in his trucks. They’re also great for mandala play. NOTE: they are tiny so definitely a choking hazard for little bubs.
– Much smaller storeage footprint than larger block sets
– Great value – you basically get blocks, building boards and loose parts all in one set!
– Each set comes with booklet of build ideas such as dollhouse, farm, airport, garage etc
– The grippiness is great, though not as grippy as Grimms they still give enough friction to make high stacks and more complicated builds. The 5cm side of the block also adds stability
