The Story behind Wobbel

The inspiration behind Wobbel began in a small school yard in The Netherlands. Co-founder Hannelore was looking for a Waldorf style balance board to assist her son’s learning but was unable to locate one. She placed an advertisement in the school newsletter looking for a woodworker to help, and Wouter, fellow parent at the school, engineer, artist and designer, and Co-founder of Wobbel, responded. The rest is history!! After creating a prototype and receiving many interested enquiries from fellow parents, the vision of Wobbel was born.

Sustainability

Wobbels are made with wood comes from strictly controlled plantations, where replanting is guaranteed. Their beechwood comes from European FSC certified plantations. For Wobbels with special types of wood, we use intermediate layers of FSC European beechwood and carefully selected top layers of FSC certified and common types of wood from within and outside of Europe. In addition, their wood bending plant is very efficient, where raw materials and waste are reduced to a minimum. For example, there is no gas usage. The residue timber is used for heating off the premises and the press dies.

Wobbels wool felt is made from the best available natural felt from a local supplier. It is colored by nature. Their unique pressed (or Vegan) felt for the Wobbel Pro, Starter and 360 is mainly made from recycled soft drink bottles, between 10 and 20 PET bottles per Wobbel.

Wobbels packaging is made entirely from recycled and recyclable cardboard and comes from a local supplier. The logo is applied with sustainable ink that does not interfere with the recycling process.

All Wobbels are manufactured in Europe and finished in the Netherlands.

Wobbel Yoga

Wobbel have inspired children and adults the world over to move and have fun, while becoming more present to the enjoy the moment in the everyday. Wobbel enhances body awareness in a playful way and stimulates creativity, balance and strength. In 2017 yoga teacher Rianne Roobdeen translated children’s yoga to use with the Wobbel Board.
